Cockatiels!
If you're anything like me, you love to view pictures of other folk's birds, so I'll put up as many as I can!
<--- This is "Sable", a beautiful 2003 cinnamon / wf / pied hen and her 2 sisters (to the right). Their grandfather, Carter,   is a 15 year old U.S.A. grand champion from well respected US breeder Carter Atwood!
Meet Bailey and Casper. (left) These two tiels have been crazy about each other from the time they met, and tried 4 times to have a family. I guess practice makes perfect 'cause they were finally blessed with a fertile clutch of 4... Shasta (right) being their first daughter. Isn't she a pretty baby girl?
Peggy, a beautiful sweet big lutino hen (left) and Logan, a handsome cinnamon whiteface male (right) have had 2 clutches. Logan was also the first to be a daddy and the second bird to join my aviary.
Here's a pied clutch (left) and a lutino clutch (right). These babies are about 9 weeks old.
Frisco (left, wf pied male) and Willow (cin.wf pied hen) are very bonded and have not had a family of their own yet but are wonderful foster parents.
Xena is a huge standard golden pearl hen with an amazing full crest. She is one of my best show birds!

These 2 pics are of the same bird... a very large show quality standard grey hen out of "Carter" and "Magna". She's  a beauty and sister to the young cock bird below. These two are weighing in at 12 weeks of age in the 129-132 gr. range.
For birds so young, these two siblings have lovely head shape and size, straight back lines, full crests and very nice wing set. They are siblings of the lutino pied "Chiffon" above.

" Winter "
Whiteface Cinnamon   Pied Cock
Winter , one of the finest cockatiels bred at Homestead's Hatchery is out of "Aspen", a cinnamon pied whiteface hen bred by Phil Feret of Washington and "Logan", a cinnamon whiteface / pied cock bird.     ( see pic of Logan close to the top of this page ) Logan has sired many offspring, is a dedicated father and uncharacteristically has not bonded to any one particular hen. (He's my "casanova" male!) Logan takes fatherhood VERY seriously and does more than his share in brooding and raising his chicks.

Her mother "Aurora", a very large pearl/wf hen  is out of Champion "Chilaca", a WF/pd hen, and by "Eclipse", a Julia Allen bred cock. Chilaca also resides with us here at the Hatchery and we feel blessed to be able to work with her.

            September 2009

Some of our beautiful breeding stock and show birds... A few of these lovely cockatiels came from some of the top show producers and judges in the US such as Julia Allen, Phil Feret and Sabrina Hull to name a few. A number of these birds have produced show offspring that have gone on to make their parents proud!

In this pic, the birds were enjoying some warm sunshine after their cage was power washed and they had a good shower! They spent the better half of the afternoon preening, sunning and watching the curious sparrows!
